I'd like to thank Rebecca Lamoin, Rose Myers and all the volunteers, partners and supporters of this amazing festival. Without your creativity, amazing ideas and funding - kids like me might never get the chance to experience such wonderful performances, events and activities from around the world.

I can't wait for next year's festival - see you all there!

Pirates pack a punch

Well - it was the day I'd been waiting for - seeing Pirates with my bestie Noah! We met up with Noah and his escort for the day - Aunty Macca - at the big wheel at Southbank and headed straight for the Lyric Theatre. We grabbed cushions along the way so Noah and I could sit higher and see better.

It was a very big theatre - I've never been in such a big theatre before. There were lots of kids there, all excied about seeing Pirates. Soon, the lights dimmed - and onto the stage came a slightly scary-looking cook - who played the piano acordian. He actually scared a lot of the younger kids - including my friend Noah..... he didn't want to stay and watch - and so - I spent the whole time watching it with my Ma - and not with Noah. This was very disappointing for me.

I liked the show - although I thought it was way too loud for little ears and some parts were scary - ghosts, skeletons....lucky Ma put me on her lap and cuddled me close. I thought the acrobats were very clever - especially the kids.

As soon as it was over, we ran to find Noah and then we ate some lunch, went to 'Pen Pal' and wrote a letter to my Zia. I liked this activity a lot.

Before long, it was time to say goodbye to OOTB. I'm going to give you my top 5 list in another post - and you can tell me yours too :)

Amococo rocks!

Today was a beautiful winter's day - Brisbane style. And everyone in my family was feeling better, finally (we've all been sick this week). I woke up really early today, and was excited to get going to the festival..... we walked down in the sunshine and as we got close to QPAC, I saw it - the Amococo tunnel. It looked amazing in the sunshine - all these coloured domes and shiny walls - I couldn't wait to get inside. Neither could Mummy, Ma, Gianni and Elke.

There were LOTS of people also waiting to get inside, but it was worth it. As soon as I was in the tunnel - I could see so many different colours and there were lots of different passageways to go down. Gianni and Elke were crawling around squealing with excitement....babies love Amococo too :)

We spent about 15 minutes exploring, sitting quietly and listening to the sounds of the tunnel. I thought it was really cool, and I told Mummy and Ma I want to go again!

We bumped into my cousins Bella and Remi, Zio Dion and Aunty Leesa too. They had just been to see Mr McGee and the Biting Flea - which Bella loved. Ma and I had another show to see today - called 'On Air'. It was acrobatics and aerial ballet and I enjoyed this too. Ma and I were able to sit very close to the performers, who were so strong and graceful. Ma told me she would never be strong enough to do what they did. I said I think my friend Nay could definitely do these tricks - because she is so strong.

After the show, we ate some lunch and then walked home (I fell asleep on the way - maybe cos I was up so early) It was another great day at OOTB!

My first ever visit to Out of The Box

Yesterday Mummy and I caught the train to OOTB. I asked questions all the way about Grug and what he might be doing, eating and who his friends were. As soon as we got off the train, people from QPAC were there to help us find our venue, which was a big help.

As soon as we saw the signs for Grug - I was very curious. Where was Grug's hole? What colour would he be? (I secretly wanted him to be blue...my favourite colour).

We all sat on these colourful cushions close to the stage. We had a great view, and I totally loved Grug! I did get a bit scared when Clara the carpet snake came on stage - I thought she was going to eat Grug...silly me :)

After the show, we ate an ice-cream and then - it was time to make kites. 'Flight Deck' was a fun session. First we drew some pictures on a special kind of material and then Tony taught us how to turn our creation into a flying kite.... I didn't get a chance to fly mine as I started to get a bit tired and wanted to get back on the train. It was a big morning.

Tomorrow we're all going (even my brother and sister) to the Amococo tunnel. It will be excellent. I saw lots of people outside it yesterday...they looked like they were having fun.

Lights, camera, action!

The festival is on! Tonight we all saw the opening day on the news...and there was the Amococo tunnel! I'm even more excited about it now.

Tomorrow I'm going with Mummy to see Grug and then later we're going to learn about making our own kites at the "Flight Deck" workshop. I've got a kite at home and love flying it on windy days - so I'm interested in what makes kites stay up in the air so well.

Of course, the most exciting part of my day tomorrow will be catching the TRAIN to Out of the Box! Becuase - you know how much I love trains......

7 sleeps to go!

Out of the Box starts on June 8 - and today is June 1st.... so that's not far away.

My Ma is overseas this week so we're writing our blog between different countries... She takes a big plane to go away and work. I don't like it when she's away - but I am looking forward to her coming home, because soon after that - the festival starts and we get to hang out together lots.

I think I'm most looking forward to seeing Pirates, because my best friend Noah is coming too, and this will be fun! I am also really excited about the Amococo tunnel. Did you know they inflate and deflate it every day? That's a lot of work, but it is going to be great fun. (My Mummy and Ma think so too).

So - I hope I'll meet lots of you reading this blog at the festival. Remember - only 7 more sleeps!
